(54,448 posts)I got the implication that the OP meant that in their opinion HRC had the best (i.e. not the only) chance of winning the general not the only chance. Personally, I think that if the Republicans don't come up with someone better than they have so far (or--unless one of them is far better than they seem so far), our candidate is the next president no matter who it is. Like 2008, I think this primary battle is being fought so intensely because it is a contest not just for the nomination, but for the White House.
Sure, the Republicans will put up a fierce media battle, but even a gold-plated Lada won't drive any faster or smoother than a Lada with a single coat of green paint (or, with a nod to Belmondo, "rose avec des étoiles vertes" . Their problem, in a nutshell:
All the Kochs' money and all the Kochs' men
Found no one whose I Q was higher than ten.
