I said nothing about what people should vote on, and there is nothing in my post that indicates I did. I don't tell other people what they should vote on. Unlike a number of Sanders supporters, I believe every American has every right to make that decision themselves and they have no obligation to justify their votes to me. I don't think their votes count less than mine, nor do I express outrage when black folks, the disabled, elderly, or college students vote. I think more voting is good, even if the votes don't conform with mine.
I have worked on voter registration and get out the vote activities for 15 years now, particularly in diverse, urban communities, since that is where I happen to live myself. My concern has always been full participation. When I support a candidate, I focus on getting supporters to the polls, not telling people their preferences for another candidate are wrong or that they should vote based on what I want. I certainly wouldn't presume to tell an entire race of people what I as a white person think is in their best interest. Why on earth would that be even remotely relevant or helpful?
