(8,709 posts)When R first came here back in our youth in the '80s, he stayed with me for a while. He had to get a job to make some money, of course. I was shocked when he came back so soon from his first day of job hunting at a construction site. And he was aghast that all the positions were filled.
He said, In South Africa, 10:00 means 11ish. Good Lord, I lauged so hard I cried. Then explained to him that here 10:00 means 10:00 especially when job hunting. So I assume there is some kind of CPT in SA.
When first moving to SCal and excited to see so many thrift stores. I planned an early day of shopping, thinking the stores opened around 10 at the latest, like thrift stores back East. Got to one closed store then another, and another all with the time sign on their door stating 11ish. And this was a region close to the beach with a lot of white people. My sister and I fell out laughing saying, Good Lord, these white people are on CPT!
