(1,511 posts)My Irish side just joke about the troubles and if your car does not start on the first turn, get the feck out. As for the attacks on this, I think a very small amount came out of a good place. Since in watching it you do see part of the joke is the guy's initial reaction and then them saying CP and then by them correcting to "cautious politician" it suddenly becomes politically correct. If it as a completely ok for anyone to use then the joke would have no point. As for me I just thought it was awkward and poorly paced. I do see the negative aspect of people in power making jokes at the partial expense of a people traditionally given the bad end of the stick. It also seems to make a little jab at pc culture, by making the "straight man" in the comedy routine set it up as the reactionary one. But as I said I am not of color, and I am not going to drag a family member in to this to get an opinion. My issue with the ton of the original post and many following is the assertion that the Bernie group is to blame for this. It is a very simplistic view in a bubble that disregards the horrible lies about us as his supporters. I am tired of the race baiting, and it is not right. I have posted several times about this skit, and as I have said it is not my right to make a claim, other than the skit itself, the acting and such. But please stop this race baiting. Some of us have gone though generations of crap because we have stood up to real racist, it does our party a discredit.
