(24,411 posts)because I think it is unfair to manufacture controversy about a candidate's support of an entire race. Unless the candidate has done something horrendously egregious (like supporting David Duke), I think it's wrong.
Because that would be using a moment to harm that person's standing with a particular race--merely for political gain.
I have stayed away from these threads. I think it's wrong. I think it's opportunism that is frankly, sad and destructive.
With that said, I felt the exact same way when I heard David Brock speak the words, "Black lives don't matter to Bernie Sanders." Brock said this about Bernie Sanders in January--even before Bernie Sanders had participated in the Iowa Caucuses.
Bernie's campaign in states with more diverse populations hadn't even gotten off the ground, and all ready he was being attacked and the accusations of racism began.
I think this was a PR ploy. I think it was wrong with Sanders. I think the CP joke being used to paint Clinton as a racist is wrong too.
I don't think people or groups or races should be used as political props EVER.
