(7,231 posts)I rather feel that such accusations completely miss the point. But failing to understand someone else's motivations is not inherently bigoted (or more specifically racist).
And slinging that accusation of racism around to apply to incomprehension just isn't right.
As for banning a poster for repeated incomprehension being "mob mentality": when nobody bothered to explain their motivations on terms the poster could comprehend, just shouting "if you don't agree with me you are racist" or "if you ascribe the wrong motivations to my preference, you must be a bigot" - come on: how is that stuff going to convince anyone to see things from your point of view? And then banning someone for not being convinced? Doesn't look good.

But the admins and the poster aside for a moment, the question of why the incomprehension of PoC preference for Clinton rises to the level of seeming like the result of criminal abuse: that question deserves a better and more thoughtful discussion than accusations of bigotry all over the board. Particularly as I think, respectfully, that enquiring into the incomprehension of posters like Willy T could help to restore some of those bridges that a certain campaign has been all too happy to burn.
So maybe you will permit me to take your question into further consideration, and try to work it into - or refer to it in - an OP which I hope to present very shortly.
Love,
Betty.
