(14,174 posts)I apologize. It is IMO only, from my own research, that I come to the conclusions about the more obvious choice based on actual policies today. I find it hard to fathom that someone would vote on who schmoozes the best with what is a big Democratic voting block in the last decade, and who actually has been proposing social justice reforms that would benefit that community for multiple decades. The marches and arrest he did 50 years ago was not the be all and end all of his work in this area despite the propaganda otherwise. Meanwhile Hillary has taken millions from the private prison system. Her husband really helped them out a lot.
I read someone like Cornel West and am inspired that all of us, no matter what color, can join in the revolution to create better lives for everyone, and create more fairness in the system overall. IMO it is pandering to pretend that we can have real change for the concerns that BLM has raised, by only tackling the symptoms and not the underlying disease.
Why Brother Bernie Is Better for Black People Than Sister Hillary
"...when it comes to advancing Dr. Kings legacy, a vote for Clinton not only falls far short of the mark; it prevents us from giving new life to Kings legacy. Instead, it is Sanders who has championed that legacy in word and in deed for 50 years. This election is not a mere campaign; it is a crusade to resurrect democracyKing-stylein our time. In 2016, Sanders is the one leading that crusade."
Like I said, IMO, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I just hope it is not missed.
