(21,210 posts)when we have a president, and his followers, or are able to overlook the suffering of millions of others who have had their fate altered by our hand. We cannot make it right for the people in our country if we dismiss the suffering of others.
EVERY PERSON matters, I am not going to single out those who were born in our country as being special while our country kills children in other countries. Sure start at home, but not while we make millions of orphans in other countries and say 'we need to look forward' and turn a blind eye to what Bush did and how it will impact our country for decades! That is just BS and just bowing to corporate interests.
Does that make sense, or do you think that being born in the USA carries a higher weight and we can disrupt and kill at will other people because they were born in another country? Do you think that suspecting all boys over 14 or 15 as being terrorists in Fallujah is a good policy? You made the comparison between Fallujah and Missouri.
We agree, but I am not buying into the idea that treating people in one country dramatically different from ours advances the cause for all people.
"If you are unwilling to do it for your neighbor you will never care about that person overseas."
Exactly and we need to acknowledge the fact that (a neighbor can live outside the US) instead Obama said we need we need to look forward when it comes to the atrocities we committed in Iraq, why is it different for atrocities committed at home. They are all people, unless you are willing to take a stand for all people everywhere, you'll never find justice. That is my point, you need to broaden your view IMHO.
