(90,714 posts)... and except for every "conservative" talk show host; Naderite; Kucinich-ite; Tavis Smiley-ite and Cornel West-ite. The GOP who got together the day he took the Oath of Office to take an oath of their own: to oppose every single thing he proposed no matter how necessary to the nation it might be -- they sure had Obama's back, and they were sharpening their knives while deciding which ribs to slip them through.
I do remember how "unified" DU itself was during the campaigns. It was heartwarming to read how Obama was not black enough, not angry enough, not promising the right things (incidentally he never promised any such thing as single payer health care; if the words "It would be nice IF" ever crossed his lips, I'm sure he's repented a thousand times).
Then as soon as he took office, DU and the Left certainly had his back while they raved about broken promises of things that were supposed to happen on the first day, the first month, etc. While the GOP stood solidly against everything he actually had promised.
Oh, I almost forgot how unified we all were in 2010 when so many Dems decided to stay home or vote 3rd party to show their dissatisfaction, as if we had a Parliamentary system, which oddly, we do not.
The man has made some -- perhaps even many -- mistakes. But if there's a "wasted opportunity" for greatness it wasn't due to him.
