(15,882 posts)have earned it on their own, and the wealthy could have been made to pay their taxes. But that would take a government more interested in protecting the working people instead of underwriting their wealthy friends and protecting that wealth, among them the bankers that donated so heavily to the 2008 election. Banks whose ongoing criminal enterprise destroyed the lives of tens of millions of people, and continue to do so as they reap the benefits of $85 billion a month to the primary dealers, reporting a 2nd quarter profit of $20 billion, while children cry when they leave school on Friday, knowing they won't have anything to eat until they get back to school on Monday...
Some people see that as a success. I think it's shameful that we let billionaires avoid taxes and give these people less to eat than we contract to pay private prisons to feed people.
We don't have to have tens of millions of people grubbing for too few crappy jobs, and people trying to sell it as good news when 70,000 of the 195,000 jobs in our last report pay less than $15/hr, while in the same report it shows a net loss of over 200,000 full-time jobs and a 14.3% U6 unemployment rate.
