I can't find any AP or Reuters story that mentions what was going on inside after the initial encounter with law enforcement.

USA Today says the shooting lasted "about three minutes."

This is consistent with the time it took for the first officers to arrive on scene. It is not consistent with the reported "15 to 20 minutes" that elapsed between the first law-enforcement encounter and the arrival of the SWAT team.
