In reply to the discussion: BRILLIANT move by Harry Reid [View all]Ruby the Liberal
(26,219 posts)130. Disqualifying and distasteful are two different things.
No question that Romney's taxes are legal. (Right down to the Amnesty in 2009, if he chose it - thats what "Amnesty" means). Romney pays more than I make in a decade for the team of tax attorneys and CPAs that manage this and ensure no loophole is left behind.
That said, there is a difference between "disqualifying" (illegal) and "impolitic" (just a really, really bad idea if you want to be POTUS).
Just ask Anthony Weiner and Rep (name escapes me, R-NY) who both had to resign the US House for semi nekkid pictures on Twitter and Craigslist, respectfully. Not illegal, but career killers due to bad judgment.
In Rmoney's case, that judgment was greed, not skin.
McCain was given the assessments from his team and he chose Palin.

He'd be in a box IF we had a reliable free press. We don't. I fear that money trumps truth.

Could be that Reid is being baited by the GOP. Stranger things have happened.
