Midday Music for Millennials -- Thursday

always better with

Jurassic 5. “How We Get Along”

Digable Planets. “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)”

Kanye West. “Can’t Tell Me Nothin”

Devon Gilfillian. “Get Out and Get It”

Lauryn Hill. “Everything Is Everything.”

(lyrics)
Everything is everything
What is meant to be, will be
After winter, must come spring
Change, it comes eventually

Everything is everything
What is meant to be, will be
After winter, must come spring
Change, it comes eventually

I wrote these words for everyone who struggles in their youth
Who won't accept deception, instead of what is truth
It seems we lose the game
Before we even start to play
Who made these rules? (Who made these rules?)
We're so confused (We're so confused)
Easily led astray
Let me tell ya that

Everything is everything
Everything is everything
After winter, must come spring
Everything is everything

I philosophy
Possibly speak tongues
Beat drum, Abyssinian, street Baptist
Rap this in fine linen, from the beginning
My practice extending across the atlas
I begat this
Flipping in the ghetto on a dirty mattress
You can't match this rapper slash actress
More powerful than two Cleopatras
Bomb graffiti on the tomb of Nefertiti
MCs ain't ready to take it to the Serengeti
My rhymes is heavy like the mind of sister Betty (Betty Shabazz)
L-Boogie spars with stars and constellations
Then came down for a little conversation
Adjacent to the king, fear no human being
Roll with cherubims to Nassau Coliseum
Now hear this mixture, where Hip Hop meets scripture
Develop a negative into a positive picture

Now everything is everything
What is meant to be, will be
After winter, must come spring
Change, it comes eventually

Sometimes it seems
We'll touch that dream
But things come slow or not at all
And the ones on top, won't make it stop
So convinced that they might fall
Let's love ourselves and we can't fail
To make a better situation
Tomorrow, our seeds will grow
All we need is dedication
Let me tell ya that

Everything is everything
Everything is everything
After winter, must come spring
Everything is everything

DNC Chair Tom Perez Calls For States To Expand Voting By Mail

"It's a false choice we either have safety or we hold elections. There are ways to hold elections so that we don't put people in harm's way. What we have called for at the DNC moving forward -- let me also start out by saying we don't have the authority to postpone elections. That's up to states. What we're telling states is that you should follow the lead of states like Oregon and Washington state and Arizona, and others, and provide no-excuse absentee voting. Vote by mail, have longer early voting, so that you don't have people queueing up.

"We shouldn't have to make a false choice. There are ways to do this. Moving forward, that's exactly what the states that haven't gone yet should be doing."

Sounds doable.

Then after the primaries, he's got to deal with the feasibility of convening the national convention. Unless participants have been vaccinated, I don't think it's going to happen.

Trump Reverses Himself Completely On COVID-19 : 'A Lot Of People Are Going To Die'

On. His. Watch!

He lied for months about the severity of the coronavirus, calling it a Democratic and media hoax, but now says he always knew it was a pandemic long before anyone said so.

Passing this along. Posted on FB by one of my Democratic millennial black friends in Illinois.

I do not and will never support the ridiculous idea that a primary needs to end or that a candidate needs to quit, no matter how far behind, because we "need to build a general election campaign".

There are 50 states in this country, a district, and several territories overseas. And until every last one of those MFs votes, we're not done.

Everyone should have their say, whatever it is. And any Democratic official or party representative who is advocating for the citizens of ...

Puerto Rico
Alaska
Hawaii
Wyoming
Wisconsin

Connecticut
Delaware
New York State
Pennsylvania
Rhode Island

Guam
Kansas
Indiana
Nebraska
West Virginia

Georgia
Oregon
Washington D.C.
Maryland
Montana

New Jersey
New Mexico
Ohio
South Dakota
the US Virgin Islands

Louisiana &
Kentucky

to just sit this one out is an undemocratic hack. Every state, every person, every vote, *EVERY TIME*.

Midday Music for Millennials -- Stay mad Saturday

recommended

BEFORE Bush/Cheney and John The Pirate Roberts showed up…

Vampire Weekend. “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance”

(lyrics)
A devastating backstroke
All the way from France
With shiny, shiny cufflinks
A shirtsleeve to enhance
The pin-striped men of morning
Are coming for to dance
With pure Egyptian Cotton
The kids don't stand a chance

You criticize the practice
By murdering their plants
Ignoring all the history
Denying them romance
The pin-striped men of morning
Are coming for to dance
Forty-million dollars
The kids don't stand a chance

I didn't like the business,
But that was at first glance
Your pillow feels so soft now
But still you must advance
The pin-striped men of morning
The partners in the dance
The paper's shot to pieces
The kids don't stand a chance

Gamper, Dadoni, Emily Roberts. “Bittersweet Symphony”

Jay Z. “Bittersweet Symphony”

Obama (interlude)

Offspring. “The Kids Aren’t Alright”

Bush. “Everything Zen.”

There must be something we can eat
Maybe find another lover
Should I fly to Los Angeles
Find my asshole brother

Mickey mouse has grown up a cow
Dave's on sale again
We kissy kiss in the rear view
We're so bored, you're to blame

Try to see it once my way
Everything zen, everything zen
I don't think so
Everything zen, everything zen
I don't think so

Raindogs howl for the century
A million dollars at stake
As you search for your demigod
And you fake with a saint

There's no sex in your violence...

Try to see it once my way ...

I don't believe that Elvis is dead, yeah ...

There's no sex in your violence ...

Try to see it once my way
Everything zen, everything zen
I don't think so
Zen,
Zen

I don't think so,
I don't think so,
I don't think so
