KCET.org video about my friend, GERMS...

...aka Jaime Zacarias, an artist I have been working with and collecting for almost 10 years now.

I do various things for Jaime -- his web site, digital stuff like laser engraving, and most recently co-designed with him some GERMS floor lamps which were exhibited last September 10-Dec 7 at the Vincent Price Art Museum (the lamps are shown in the video).

Also appearing in the video is Cheech Marin - who is the collector of Chicano Art - and who has recently started collecting GERMS' work.

The video is at the link below:

On edit: KCET is the former PBS affiliate in Los Angeles, but has been an independent community broadcaster for some time now.

Also, the GERMS video will be broadcast on Channel 28 in the Los Angeles area this Thursday, February 13, at 9 PM.

"La Luz de Germs" at the Vincent Price Art Museum...

I have been working with GERMS on a limited edition version of a floor lamp (only 4 in Edition One, with 1 artist's proof version, which is a variant of the final v1 edition), inspired by GERMS' paintings, which very often feature a floating, tentacled, luchador-inspired figure, which is the model for the lamp.

The four versions of the lamp will be on exhibit at the Vincent Price Art Museum, along with some new paintings by GERMS, as well as his site-specific work.

2011 prototype:

The 2013 versions feature hand-carved teak wood tentacles:

We are still waiting for the delivery of the hand-carved wood from Thailand, and then we have less than 3 weeks to complete the assembly and installation.

I'm a little bit nervous, as we come down to the wire, but have no doubt it will be wonderful.

So I've been running ads on over 3000 web sites, incl. DU...

...promoting a song from my band's CD. The promo campaign has run for a month now.

DU Star Members will, of course, not see these ads, but I'm wondering if anybody else out there (non-Star freeloaders like me) has seen them, besides me?

It's for Green Sparkle Frog, "She's That Kind of Girl" - the ads link to a free download of the song, via ReverbNation.com.

Any feedback from anyone would be appreciated, thanks.

Timothy Leary NEUROCOMICS...

...here's a link to a blog review, apparently published today, of a comic book I worked on back in the 70s with Pete Von Sholly and George DiCaprio (yeah, Leo's dad).

My son found the blog review via an automatic update from a "gadget" on his iGoogle page, and emailed me to tell me about it, which strikes me as highly synchronistically amazing, not to mention, quite Leary-like and all.

http://io9.com/5988180/read-timothy-learys-brain+melting-comic-about-space-migration-and-the-future-of-human-consciousness?post=57945190

I painted the cover, co-designed/inked the inside panel borders, and did the lettering.

I was just thinkin' - "what a great movie this would make!" - just Imagine the 3D Special Effects!!

There is a link, at the link above, to the entire comic, should anyone want to peruse it in detail.

So I installed the Firefox update a few days ago...

...and ever since, I've been getting periodic pop-up windows trying to get me to do a multitude of surveys.

Which is extremely annoying.

Anybody else experience this, or have a fix to stop it from happening?

Oh yeah, also, I now have this thing where certain words on web pages are hyperlinked to advertisements or something...which I also don't appreciate.

If anybody knows how to get rid of these, I'd appreciate learning how.

Thanks in advance.

Well, at long last, after a year long delay...

..."Die Happy & Other Songs About Life," by my band Green Sparkle Frog, is finally released.

There is an audio player at our web site with full versions of all of the songs on the CD.

The CD is available on our site, at CDBaby.com, and CDUniverse.com, while digital downloads are available at Apple iTunes, Amazon, and twenty or so other sites on the web.

We're working on the followup, "The Ghosts of Eden," which we hope to have completed by the end of September 2013.

Test piece, based on a photo of Marcel Duchamp...

TITLE: DUCHAMP

MEDIA: "3-D" laser etched wood panel, hand painted with wood stains and enamels, in a gold leafed and enameled frame.

IMAGE AREA: 4" x 4", with frame, 5 1/16" x 5 1/16".

DETAILED DESCRIPTION: Custom framed mini-portrait - a hand painted, laser etched wood panel, from a specially rendered digital art re-interpretation
of the iconic photograph (by Kay Bell Reynal), of Marcel Duchamp playing chess.

This piece was made as a non-inclusive prototype to represent the concept of a series of laser etched, hand painted mini portraits of various historical figures, based on original artwork submitted by various artists.
