kpete's JournalOregon senator walkout: 'patriot' groups vow to protect Republicans who fled state
Members of rightwing patriot movement groups have vowed to protect Republican senators in Oregon who have walked out of the state legislature in order to try and block the passage of climate legislation.
The move by the state senators some of whom are believed to have fled to neighboring Idaho was aimed at denying Democrats a quorum for passing landmark climate legislation. The proposed new Oregon law resembles Californias sweeping new cap and trade legislation.
After Oregons governor authorized state police to bring the 11 Republican senators back to the state house rightwing groups have said they will rally to their defense raising the prospect of a potentially dangerous confrontation.
Figures aligned with the patriot movement group of organizations offered assistance to the rogue senators, though it was not immediately clear if this cooperation was welcomed by them.
On Facebook, Paul Luhrs, who claimed to be the Linn County lead for the Oregon III%, a patriot movement group, announced that the organization has vowed to provide security, transportation and refuge for those senators in need.
Luhrs added, It has come to our knowledge that nearly all senators are currently safe in Idaho with no chance of extradition.

Altercation at Boris Johnson's House: partner tells him to "get off me" and "get out of my flat"
The Guardian revealed that an argument between Johnson and his partner, Carrie Symonds, a former Conservative party head of press, was heard by a neighbour who called the police and recorded the row.
They said they heard a woman screaming followed by slamming and banging. At one point Symonds could be heard telling Johnson to get off me and get out of my flat.
As Johnson prepared to go head-to-head with Jeremy Hunt in Birmingham for the role of Conservative leader, in the first runoff hustings on Saturday, questions over his private life dominated the battle for Downing Street.
Tory former attorney general Dominic Grieve told BBC Radio 4s Today programme that he wasnt in a position to comment on the specifics of the story but when asked a more general question, said character mattered in the leadership race.

Trump yet again lies about his family separation policy but gets fact-checked to his face
.............
Trump sat down for an interview with Telemundos José Díaz-Balart, where he lied about the usual, like taking credit for President Obamas Veterans Choice health care program, and the laughable, like falsely claiming hes gaining huge support from the Hispanics because they want toughness at the border. But the most shameless lying was regarding his humanitarian disaster at the border.
The zero tolerance policy, is that a mistake? Díaz-Balart asked. When I became president, President Obama had a separation policy, Trump replied, lying. I didnt have it, he had it. I brought the families together. Im the one that put them together. Díaz-Balart knew this was a pile of lies and would say so just a few moments later, but first laid out the scale of Trumps disastrous policy to his face.
2,800 children were reunited with their parents in the last year, he told Trump. We dont even knowthe government doesnt even know how many children are still not with their parents. They dont know, which I find incredible. Trump tries to go back to blaming an Obama plan, but Díaz-Balart, sensing the imminent bullshit rant, begins to tell Trump that, no, were talking about what he did.
Im the one that put people together, they separated, I put them together, Trump tried to counter. You did not, Díaz-Balart informs him. 2,800 children were reunited with their parents in this last year after the zero tolerance policy separated thousands of them. Trump replied, Excuse me, because I put them together, of course not all seeking to be excused. Thats because I put them together.
Díaz-Balart, without missing a beat, replies, Under court order, I might add, right? Yup, because it was only under a federal judges order that the administration began to reunite these families, and its been only under court order that the administration is now tracking down other children who were separated before his policy was officially in place. Officials have so far identified 1,712 additional kids, and because theyre only partly through that court-mandated recount, there could be thousands more.

1. Trumps self-professed amazing memory failed him again.
2. Trumps lawyers failed to even look at the article. I thought even Trump could look at the pictures.

CALL THEM CONCENTRATION CAMPS
BY SCOTT LEMIEUX / ON JUNE 21, 2019 / AT 1:18 PM / IN GENERAL
.....................
If conservatives truly think that concentration camp is limited to Nazi death camps, where was the outrage when the Trump administration employed it to (correctly) describe the mass detention of Uighurs in Xinjiang? (Naturally, the Chinese government also hates the term concentration camp, preferring to call them vocational education training centers.)

................
As Hannah Arendt taught us in Eichmann in Jerusalem, perpetrators depend on us being desensitized to the victims suffering. Using euphemisms to cover for atrocities is the essence of the banality of evil. This is why perpetrators work so hard to propagandize, criminalize, and dehumanize the Other. Authoritarians require enemies to blame for their inadequacies, and to distract their base from their diminishing quality of life.
The red flags at the border are obvious to those of us raised with never again, a phrase Ocasio-Cortez invoked: dehumanizing language, children in cages, families separated, the deaths of trans asylum seekers, rampant diseases, and subhuman living conditions. Never again means we must work to deescalate before atrocities rise to the horrors of Auschwitz. Yad Vashem, the Holocaust memorial in Israel, was upset with Ocasio-Cortez for invoking the term, yet its own materials note that concentration camps for undesirables, including Jews, Poles, Communists, gay people, and Roma, opened in 1933, while the death camps were opened starting in 1941.
Its tragic that Yad Vashem, an institution Ive venerated and visited, has opted to chasten a young woman for calling out crimes against humanity that mirror what Jews endured less than a century ago, at the same that it embraces visitors like Viktor Orban, the anti-Semitic, ethnonationalist Hungarian prime minister.
In memory of the 6 million Jews who perished because they were considered less human, I will not accept my government treating migrants like animals. And as the daughter of a Soviet Jewish refugee, I will not accept the criminalization of stateless people. Perpetrators depend on complacency, on our inability to care for people unlike ourselves. No person is illegal, or a pest to be exterminated. If you dont like the term concentration camp, help close them.

Trump: Family separations we all read about & witnessed with our own eyes Never Happened
He falsely claimed he "inherited" family separation from Obama.
He falsely claimed Hispanics were losing wealth under Obama.
He falsely claimed he has 50% Hispanic approval.

Trump is now asserting that the family separations that we all read about in thousands of news reports and witnessed with our own eyes never happened.

Trump Confirms He Stopped Attack on Iran
June 21, 2019 at 9:21 am EDT By Taegan Goddard 35 Comments
President Trump confirmed that his administration had readied a series of strikes against Iran in response for shooting down an unmanned drone, but that he stopped it at the last moment.
Tweeted Trump: We were cocked & loaded to retaliate last night on 3 different sights [sic] when I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone.

"It was unclear why Mr. Trump would have been getting information about possible casualties so late in the process of launching military action. Such information is typically discussed early in the deliberations..."
