It would be amusing if it weren’t so sick.
As I sit here and watch this unfold I think that
if you substituted the clause “Trump, Miller, and Giuliani marched fifty individuals out onto the White House lawn and machine-gunned them with a mounted .50 caliber weapon” for the clause “phoned a foreign leader for a political quid pro quo” you’d hear the same verbiage “FROM BOTH SIDES”
Can’t effing stand it anymore....Rethugs defend anything he does or did, Dems speak in measured, logical tones. Where is the outrage? This is what gets through to people.

By incarcerating adults and children needlessly he raised the index of morbidity AND MORTALITY significantly for these individuals. There will be “otherwise preventable” illnesses and deaths due to his bigotry and hatred of all things brown. This is tantamount to murder.
Suppose a dentist did not sterilize his or her equipment and instruments or use fresh disposable supplies. There is no question that disease would be propagated widely and certain early death would result at some places in the timeline until he or she was stopped from practice, should that occur. So if you lock up people en masse you’re going to have undiagnosed illnesses, injuries, nutritional issues and worse leading to premature demise of a certain percentage of the incarcerated population and quite possibly their intimates following release.
So yes, he can equivalently shoot someone on 5th Avenue and get away with it. He already did that and worse.
Ever read Verne's "The Mysterious Island"?
The book essentially begins with Northerners escaping Richmond, VA via a balloon in a violent storm of the Century (19th) which incredibly takes them across the US to the South Pacific. Verne’s description of the lashing of the city and being in the balloon which eventually leaves them on a deserted isle. Fascinating description prior to the science of meteorology as we now know it.
Great book. My favorite Verne novel and if you’ve read other Verne, the end will amaze you.
