Perhaps the talking heads at CNN are trying to get back in his good graces.

https://www.pressherald.com/2020/02/04/white-house-excludes-cnn-from-trumps-briefing-with-media/

If CNN had any sense they would embrace their position and make hay with it rather than sucking up. If the rest of news media had any sense they would join CNN in standing against Trump* as well, but...

Thanks for ruining the moon, Buzz.

I kid, but still... really? Buzz Aldrin, I thought you had to be smart to be an astronaut. Damn.

If the decision had gone the way you wanted it to, you would not be talking about this.

I have no argument with scrapping the Electoral College. It is outdated and thwarts the popular vote.

However, regarding our bicameral Congress:

The Senate is set up to represent land: the individual states. It is the House of Representatives that is set up to represent those states according to population. The two houses balance one another so that small states or states with lower populations are still accorded enough power not to be drowned out by larger, more populous states.

This is intentional, and when relatively honest people hold office, it works.

Our institutions did not let us down here. The PEOPLE in them did.

No one is going to get rid of the Senate. It's not going to happen. Get rid of lousy Senators the same way we get rid of lousy Representatives and lousy Presidents. VOTE.

'Simpsons' Writer Shames Trump's Secretary of State

'Simpsons' Writer Shames Trump's Secretary of State After He Tried to Use Lisa Simpson Meme to Troll Nancy Pelosi

Republicans were unfazed by the 31 false statements made by President Donald Trump in his State of the Union address, but they were fuming at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for ripping her copy of Trump's address in half on the House floor.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was among those offended, and tried to troll Pelosi on Twitter.

He used a quote from The Simpsons to do so.

The shot features Lisa Simpson in the episode "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington," in which Lisa becomes disillusioned with government and tears up her paper on the roots of Democracy.

Pompeo may have thought his trolling was superb, but it wasn't long before former Simpsons writer Bill Oakley called Pompeo out in no uncertain terms.

The fallout is glorious.

Well said, Senator Jones.

Your honorable words underscore the malfeasance and hypocrisy of all who vote to acquit.

They should subpoena Bolton and I hope they do.

But I bet the worst part won't be anyone crying sour grapes. It will be when Bolton's lawyers refuse to recognize Judge Jackson's ruling on McGahn, dragging out the process with court appeals.

The House still should subpoena him, and anyone else they feel is material to ongoing investigations because the country deserves the truth and it is the right thing to do.

No, the end is not nigh.

The 2020 election is nigh, and it's going to be difficult because Republican cheating and Russian interference is a given. Sitting around talking about 'the end' rather than motivating people to vote and shoring up any and all means to make sure they can and will vote is what we should be focusing on.

Nice quote, but this doom and gloom nonsense is not constructive.

Great article.

I admit that I am one of the uninformed who thought Rosa Parks just decided not to give up her seat that day.

I always thought she was a strong woman, a wonderful role model, but I had no idea she was that involved in the Civil Rights movement beforehand and after. Good for her niece for telling more of the whole story; we are all richer for knowing. Rosa Parks deserves her due for being the amazing woman she was, for all that she did in her life - not just for refusing to move to the back of the bus one day.

Thank you for posting this, Dennis.

NP, it's been a long day...

Re the article, I do wish there were some way to call Cipollone on the carpet for his blatant dishonesty and lack of ethics. It's obvious that if witnesses were called, which they should have been, he would have qualified as a material witness. Somebody should see him censured or disbarred over this eventually, but it really ought to be made part of the official record.

And this is before he (and the rest of the WH team) started spewing intentional lies to mislead the public.

As for stopping the trial or calling for a mistrial, well... it's not gonna happen.
