Holder frustrated with Mo. governor over actions before Ferguson grand jury decision
Source: Washington Post.com
"Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. has expressed concerns privately to Missouri officials this week about their recent actions in advance of a grand jurys decision in the Michael Brown case.
A top aide to Holder called the office of Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) earlier this week to express Holders displeasure and frustration that the governor had declared a state of emergency at a news conference and activated the National Guard in advance of the grand jury decision in the Ferguson shooting, expected to be announced in the next few days, according to a Justice Department official.
Instead of de-escalating the situation, the governor escalated it, said the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on the subject. He sent the wrong message. The tone of the press conference was counterproductive.
Senior Justice officials also told U.S. attorneys around the country on Tuesday to be in close touch with local police to prepare for any possible violence in their cities, should the grand jury decision not result in an indictment of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the fatal shooting of Brown, an unarmed black teenager, on Aug. 9."

I haven't seen anything about this and thought it should be known..

Elizabeth Warren on President Obama's New Immigration Policy + Jerry Brown & Bill de Blasio
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D): "Look, I was proud to vote for comprehensive immigration reform a year and a half ago, and the Republicans haven't done anything since then. They keep blocking bringing this to a vote. So, I support the president in taking what actions he can within the law to help families, to help businesses and try to patch up this broken immigration system, she said on CNN.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) issued the following statement today on President Barack Obamas proposal to protect millions of immigrants in the United States. He also commented on the refusal of major television networks to broadcast the presidents prime-time speech:
Im a strong supporter of immigration reform and of the need to provide a pathway to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants. I support President Obamas action to help working families stay together. I think everyone agrees that the current immigration system is broken. The Senate passed an immigration reform bill more than a year ago but House Republicans refused to even consider it. They have left the president with little choice but to act on his own.
It is incomprehensible that the major television networks have said they will not broadcast the presidents speech tonight. People can be for immigration reform or against it, but clearly we need an intelligent, informed debate. Unless the networks change their plans, they will be doing a disservice to the American people and failing in their obligation to serve the public good.

Muchas Gracias President Obama!
Beautiful, babylonsistah! This deserves a KICK! Thanks Obama!
I'm so glad Gov Dan Malloy is speaking out about this, DV.. Thank you! From your link..
A couple a snips//
"I always felt that when we got to a serious contest in October, we would be OK as long as we stayed true to our principles and talked about what we accomplished, he said. Tom Foley wanted it put out that there we raised taxes. And he talked about it month after month after month after month. But once people started to pay attention, I pointed out what we did with the money, which was lower the crime rate, increase graduation rates, invest in infrastructure, create a Housing Department, create an Energy Department, create a Department of Aging. We did all of these things. It was the right policy, and ultimately people came around.
"During the campaign, Malloy didnt just embrace his record and his party. He did what only a few Democrats were willing to do: Embrace Barack Obama. The president headlined a rally in Bridgeport in the days before the election, at a time when other candidates, like Alison Lundergan Grimes of Kentucky, wouldnt even cop to voting for Obama in his reelection bid."
It was so bizarre to me when this was going down in real time and now we Dan Malloy in the aftermath of his victory explaining why running as repub lites and letting the gop set the narrative was not a good idea if you really wanted to win.
It's like the Keystone thing.. the Dems who are buying into the lies propagated by the gop.. not bothering to explain what's really going on.
My Niece lives in Fairview, Connecticut.. Lucky her I say!
