Bernie Sanders’ Big Ideas Just Picked Up Powerful Support [View all]

Clinton’s campaign has often tried to paint Bernie’s vision as a pie-in-the-sky fantasy to make her own agenda seem pragmatic as opposed to just simply overcautious, a strategy that doesn’t seem to impress the Vice President.

“I don’t think any Democrat’s ever won saying, ‘We can’t think that big — we ought to really downsize here because it’s not realistic,’” Biden said. “C’mon man, this is the Democratic Party! I’m not part of the party that says, ‘Well, we can’t do it.’”

Like Sanders, Biden has always been associated with more of a revolutionary spirit. When he announced his first presidential bid in 1987, Biden said, “The clarion call for our generation is not ‘it’s our turn,’” condemning “smooth, antiseptic and passionless” leadership and proclaiming that “we must rekindle the fire of idealism in this country.”

Biden continued, saying he thinks it’s a mistake to neglect the pursuit of progress just because it seems politically difficult.
