1. Erskine was an incredible person

In the 90's, I wrote to him and simply asked for an autograph and included a SASE. I was a teenager who loved baseball and baseball history and I had just read "Boys of Summer". A couple weeks after sending the letter, I received a big package in return. In it, Mr Erskine had included a lovely letter, an autographed card and autographed baseball. I was blown away.
