In 1970, China launched 東方紅一號 aka Dongfanghong I, literally: "The East is Red 1." The satellite played a song named The East is Red on radio, for its entire orbit. A little later, Chinese satellites began producing all kinds of funky music and talk on my standard FM radio receivers; but they were not the only military satellites in my life.
