I sent a proud Tea Party member into shock recently, and he still hasn't recovered.

All I did was inform him that it was FDR that set the overtime pay standard of time- and- a- half when he signed The Fair Labor Standards Act during The New Deal.

This guy loves his overtime pay, and fully believes it to be fair and deserved. He's also a person that soaks up everything Fox television and right wing radio tells him. He knows all the talking points, and blames liberals for everything bad. Now, his whole world has been shattered. The idea that he is actively benefiting from something a liberal did is totally messing with his mind; especially since the liberal is “the liberal”, FDR, who his hero Glenn Beck has taught him to hate.

He's taking it so bad I swear he is going through the 5 steps of grief. He's been in a weird bargaining stage where he is trying to figure out how to take credit away from FDR for the New Deal.

First, he told me FDR gets no credit because Congress actually makes the laws in America. I said fine, and asked him if that meant he would stop harping about Obama's role in Obamacare.
Now, he's come up with some stupid trickle down idea that time-and-a-half overtime pay would have happened eventually on its own- without FDR and the government “messing with the free market”.
The guy is a mess.
