Practice being friendly with everybody you meet: sales-clerks, for example. Almost everybody responds well to that. Those who don't might just be having a shizzy day: a tooth-ache, an ingrown toenail, cat hacked up a hairball on their just-cleaned carpet, or whatever. Don't take it personally: shrug it off

Meet more people by volunteering or getting involved in some group. Practice being friendly there, too, even if people sometimes act like a-holes

It works some for me. Lots of people think I'm an extrovert -- even though I'm not
