My brother turned me on to Kottke in 1971. I first saw him live in 1972. I was hooked for life. Went out, bought a few Guild 12 strings. Then, when I got a job that involved travel, I sought out the guy who built his guitars for a while, Boo Podunavac, and had Boo build me 8 or 9 guitars over the years as I could afford them. Four of the are unique custom models made just for me. Boo is in his 80s now, and is back in Florida, retired for the 15th time. I still have all those guitars he made for me. These were the last two: a matching pair. I still can't play like Kottke, but I got maybe halfway before I gave up trying to be his clone.
