Maxie used to do that too. But starting in the spring of last year, and this winter, she's been going out and spending a lot of time sleeping on the bare floor next to her crate which is left open 99 percent of the time. Or sometimes she will go in her crate.

The only thing I can think of is that room tends to be cooler than the other rooms in the house so she feels more comfortable there. She does have thyroid issues for which she is on medication, so that maybe a contributing issue. along with her age. She is 11 which is old by German Shepherd standards from what I've read.

She used to sleep next to my bed all the time. It was nice to have her there again last night.
