The writers were top notch. Allan Burns and some others went on to create some iconic sitcoms like Mary Tyler Moore Show

Speedy himself was OK but some of the more stereotypical characters around him were problematic.

My mom objected, back in the '50s. My brother thought they were funny, but I never did.
