Oedi was my first Internet friend wayyyy back in the days of AOL. And then he came here, too, and was a friend to many DU-ers. Good, funny person.
Oedi has a 25 year Internet friend named Darin. I have known Darin online casually, as well, from those old days.
Darin is in trouble. He and his older brother have been living in the car since October, with an occasional hotel reprieve. Something about a former rental gone bad, lost housing, couldn't turn things around. Darin is an educated fellow and will eventually find work again, but currently stuck in this tail spin.
Every day is a struggle for food, gasoline. The brother's health is an issue. And so is Darin's, with an open and infected wound on his leg. Debilitating pain, for both of them, in back, joints, etc. from sleeping in car, poor food, stress.
