So I'm set.

In addition to your birth certificate, if you ever changed your name - such many women do when they marry - they have to provide the document for that. If a woman was divorced or widowed and then remarried she has to provide the divorce papers or death certificate for each event marriage licenses. It can be a PITA as well as expensive, especially if the woman has had multiple marriages.

I was set for birth certificate - I had the one my parents got when I was a kid, one from when I applied for a passport when I was in college, and then since I couldn't locate the old ones, I got a new one for the Real ID driver's license. Since my Mom went into the county office, it only cost $10. Of course, then I found the earlier versions and the cute certificate from the hospital with my little baby feet prints. The DL office wasn't interested in that one.

Where I ran into a problem was with my social security card. I've only ever had one - the one my parents got for me when I was a kid. The child at the DL office had never seen one like it and wasn't going to accept it until an older clerk set her straight.
