So this morning - I got up 2 hours early. [View all]

I pulled on my jeans and thought about the time a husband of a friend back in the late 60s told me he thought I was a dyke because I wore jeans all the time. Then I put on my white shirt and said a little prayer of thanks for the women who sacrificed so dearly so that I could vote. I slipped on my mother's wedding ring and thought of the powerless life she led & how she raised me to be independent.

When I got in the car, the radio was playing "Don't you worry about a thing" by Stevie Wonder. I drove to the polls in the rain and voted for the first woman President. I cried like a baby afterwards in the car.

Thank you for indulging my boring little tale. It was very meaningful for me and the culmination of a life long dream. The number one item on my bucketlist was to see a woman become President of the United States. Checked that puppy off today.
