Memo to the Clinton Campaign [View all]

To: Robby Mook, Hillary Clinton, John Podesta and assorted advisors

From: A Democrat who is having a hard enough time with the prospect of Clinton as nominee

Please rein in your surrogates.

Please do not give us a repeat of 2008 and the dubious, OK sleazy, tactics you employed against Obama.

Today, one of your surrogates, Representative Gutierrez, launched a very ugly and strikingly dishonest attack on Senator Sanders. Having Secretary Clinton say vague nice things about Sanders or simply ignoring him, while surrogates plant ugly, false suggestions, is not an acceptable practice. Obliquely going negative in this manner, when Senator Sanders has been so respectful of Mrs. Clinton, is particularly reprehensible.

I've committed to voting for the democratic nominee. Mrs. Clinton is the odds on favorite. I'd like to keep that commitment, but if this type of nasty attack against Sanders keeps going on, I'll consider that commitment null and void.

I realize that this may seem irrelevant to you, but I rather suspect I have quite a bit of company.
