Showing Original Post only (View all)Should "cute" animal posts be allowed on General Discussion? [View all]
This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by seabeyond (a host of the General Discussion forum).
These photos spread joy and happiness among us. They can bring periods of greatly needed reprieve from heated and angry issues on the board. Yes, they are not necessarily serious, but represent an element in all normal discourse. People don't discuss serious issues ALL the time. Dialog between normal individuals usually includes differing topics, including those about cute and adorable things, such as animals and kids.
Anyway, I would like to get a feel for how pure people want this board to be. Should it be serious all the time, or should a little cuteness be allowed in?

The SOP doesn't state no animal pictures and they do fall in the catagory of current events:

The political cartoons are not always serious, yet they fit well within the GD SOP.

I think the occasional cute animal post keeps the collective BP down, the insanity in check...

I think if people want to deflate by looking at kitty pictures, GD isn't the place...

I have no opposition to the posting of these attached to a discussion of issues

I could support the cuteness if it's offered in the middle of a tense thread to diffuse tensions...

If they are unpopular on GD they would drop like lead but they are popular, people comment on them
