I'm not living in the Metroplex currently. I was in Irving after my family sold our father's home, but I couldn't find a job and had numerous health issues (diabetes, chronic anemia, manic depression and podiatry problems) so I had to leave the area in March. I'm living with my brother in a one bedroom apartment in Wharton (SW of Houston) and trying to either find a job or get SSDI so I regain my independence. It's difficult to explain why I'm unemployed since I have a strong resume and a college education, but I've gone through so many challenges recently from the overdose attempt in early April to living in a homeless shelter. However, it's been a long time since I've felt like I fit in anywhere.

It is extremely difficult living with my brother since we usually end up in a fight about once a week. I'm trying to help my brother file job applications and for unemployment benefit checks since my computer and organizational skills are stronger than his. I'm still looking statewide for employment with my preferred locations as DFW and Austin. I don't believe that I've read about any DU meetings in Dallas, but I know that a few members have met in Fort Worth. However, if I see that I'm going to the Metroplex soon I'll try to post a thread and see if anyone is interested in meeting. I've had quite a bit of interaction with several DUers online through the Texas Group and it would be nice to get acquainted since DU has been my lifeline and social outlet for the last three years.
