Think WW2 films made in the postwar aftermath, with John Wayne going over the hill, and the hero always getting "winged" -- never shot through the face. Bandages were always pretty and white, heroes had nice even California tans, and if anyone was dead, they always had the face of an angel in repose. No twisted limbs or exposed bone--everyone dies neatly, with everything buttoned, zipped and tied.
