Christie and Freeholders that doesn't seem to mix.
Bergen County Freeholders call for chairman of Port Authority and N.J. commissioners to resign
The Bergen County freeholders called Wednesday on Port Authority Chairman David Samson and the bi-state agencys New Jersey commissioners to resign over the controversy surrounding a politically manufactured traffic jam at the George Washington Bridge.
By identical 6-1 votes, the board approved a pair of resolutions. The first demanded that Samson, a former state attorney general, resign, alleging that his political activity conflicted with his role as chairman.
If he does not resign, the freeholders called on Governor Christie to remove him.
The second resolution called for the five other New Jersey commissioners to resign for failing to exercise oversight on four days of gridlock created in September when two of three lanes on the Fort Lee side of the bridge were closed without any advance notice.
On both votes, the boards five Democratic freeholders David Ganz, Joan Voss, Steve Tanelli, Tracy Zur and James Tedesco were joined by Republican Maura DeNicola. GOP Freeholder John Felice cast the lone dissenting vote.
