I know Sibelius couldn't say this, but... [View all]

The piece de resistance of the House ACA hearing BS banquet today was near the end when some wing-nut was waving around his own coverage cancellation letter.

He had intentionally opted out of his employer provided Congressional coverage and purchased a substandard plan for his family selected with the sole criterion that it was a plan that would result in the coverage being dropped when the ACA kicks in, so he could then complain about it.

Again, this man who had excellent health coverage intentionally, as a political stunt, arranged for his family to instead have a canceled health insurance plan. On purpose. (Thanks, Dad!)

After waving his cancellation letter around he demanded to know why Sibelius hadn't done the same thing with her coverage.

She was polite enough and noted that she has health coverage from her employer.

The guy persisted. Why hadn't she done the patriotic thing and opted out of that good coverage she has so she could then get an inferior policy that would subsequently be canceled???

I know these folks cannot speak freely, and it would be bad politics to do so, but I really, really wanted her to say, "For the same reason I did not intentionally drive my car into a telephone pole on the way to work today. I'm not an insane idiot."
