8 things employers may be looking for in a job candidate's social media profiles [View all]

Just IMO, if you have a social media profile of any kind (other than perhaps on LinkedIN), you should NOT use your actual name on them for the simple reason that employers will Google and look for them and if they don't like your hobbies, politics, or religious beliefs or who knows what else, they won't hire you based on what they see. Some people use completely separate profiles for personal and professional use (probably more work than most people have time to do though).

On LinkedIN, you can put your professional info/background that an employer needs to see. I know people though, who won't use LinkedIN either.
