My family lived in Saudi Arabia, and one year we took a caravan of VW buses down through Africa, then a ship to India. We drove up through India and circled through Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq to get back home.
Teheran was a paradise. Gorgeous. Friendly people and amazing food everywhere.
Iraq, not so much. But Iran was an international country, wonderful to explore. Made Saudi look like a wasteland.
