(438 posts)9. Oh, I get where you're coming from. I grew up in west Texas
in a white family. My relatives vote Democratic, but they still say a lot of things to me, a white woman who is the nurturer and needs their protection, that an outsider would never hear. They didnt want me going to college north of the Mason-Dixon Line; failing that, they didnt want me going to school in a city.
By the way, Im finding it fascinating how many people think of themselves as rural/think of their geographic locations as rural, but do not actually live in a rural area. I dont remember if you mentioned your location or not; Ive been looking up places on https://www.ruralhealthinfo.org/am-i-rural and finding the results really interesting.

Anecdotally, from my southern, white, rural perspective, they (the book authors) are 100% correct about the rage.

I found it interesting, that many people who consider themselves rural aren't. I hadn't heard of the RUCA metric.

Here is a great tool that determines if an area is eleigible for specific grants and aid for rural populations

Rural America is about 20-30% Democratic. We don't want to isolate rural Democrats.
