Trump is a healthcare nightmare [View all]

ACA provides protection against lifetime limits.

Trump has promised to try to repeal it again.

If that happens, some cancer patients may face this nightmare scenario.

A patient has cancer and the doctor has given three possible treatment options.

The insurance company refuses to pay for option C but will pay for option A or option B.
The patient tries both options but both fail.
The patient tries to pursue option C but the insurance says sorry but you have exceeded your lifetime limits.

This could have happened to me if it was not for the ACA and its protection against lifetime limits.

I was first diagnosed for lymphoma for 35 years ago.
My first remission was for about 13 years.
My second remission was for about 15 years.
It returned in 2019, 2 years after the last attempted repeal.
After 4 unsuccessful treatments, we found a treatment that finally gave me my third remission.
But my healthcare provider would have never paid for it until the other options failed.
However, treatments would have stopped due to lifetime limits if ACA was repealed.

And we have seen in the last year of Trump's presidency, he was a healthcare nightmare.
