Trump's lawyers want to turn the indictment into a "prosecutorial misconduct" issue and will certainly continue down that road. Even if Willis recuses, Trump will continue the tainted investigation challenge, in spite of the fact no evidence remotely supports the claim. But if Willis is out of the picture, the Trump defense might have less to lie about.
From a previous post:
Lawyer George Conway said on Friday that the actions of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis "wasted" time in her criminal case against former President Donald Trump.
Conway, who is a vocal critic of Trump and the estranged husband of the former president's ex-aide Kellyanne Conway, reacted to McAfee's ruling on X, formerly Twitter. "This was the obvious solution all along," he wrote. "If the DA had acknowledged the facts more quickly and then said that, to eliminate any issue, Wade is stepping aside, everyone would have been spared a lot of troubleincluding and especially the DAand a lot of time would not have been wasted in satellite circus litigation about the

affair."
Trump's lawyer Steve Sadow told Newsweek via email on Friday: "While respecting the Court's decision, we believe that the Court did not afford appropriate significance to the prosecutorial misconduct of Willis and Wade,
"We will use all legal options available as we continue to fight to end this case, which should never have been brought in the first place."

Technically a Gubnor Kemp appointee to fill previous judge's term, and he's up for election this year.

McAfee is not a Trump appointee. He's a state court judge, not a federal judge.

If it's voluntary she can. She can chose to not be the lead or face of the prosecution.

If she voluntarily recuses she can appoint her own staff to oversee the case.

If they were truly interested in getting to trial before election, one or both should have resigned when this broke.

McAfee is inexperienced and has a Judge Ito thing going on. He let the defense steamroll him.
