(22,932 posts)17. Trump was shocked to win, but he is used to faking success. In spit of his profound ignorance of the Constitution and
the political process in a democracy, he soon discovered that he had a great deal of power. He had confidants who suggested ways to take advantage of his position and the system, and he ended up wanting to stay on power in spite of his total incompetency as POTUS. Now he only sees the presidency as an opportunity to escape accountability and criminal conviction, and a means to take revenge on anyone who has opposed or displeased him.
