Id start systemically scaling the monarchy down. Like, sell off a property every few years, chop several million pounds off the budget every couple years, reduce staff, eliminate almost all the expensive pageantry, etc. Dont do it drastically, but start the process so people have time to get used to it. Then eventually William and Kate could be monarchs in the Scandinavian style much more low key.
