(15,053 posts)I'm not sure I've ever met some one who is dyslexic. Maybe they hid it.
It dawned on me recently that maybe that's one reason I grew up a lousy speller! (I think I've improved) Yes, spell check is my friend. 👍
I just read up on it. In my case I have it mildly as far as I can tell. Hardly have any big general reading comprehension unless I'm too tired, or quite upset. Always been a voracious reader. Even rarer for me to switch numbers - thank goodness since some of my office work involved numbers! 😮
The only reason I realized it at all was about 20+ years ago wgile watching the first Lord of The Rings movie: The Fellowship of the Ring. I read the books when I was around 12. There's a particular physically big, terrifying creature in there that confronts our heroes in an underground area.
One of the heroes yells out "Balrog!".
While I'm still really ensconched in the movie, a little part of me is thinking....'balrog? BalROG?!?!!
For almost the 30 years since I first read (and reread it) - until the time I heard it spoken; I always thought it was BARlog.
I was totally surprised, almost shocked.
Sorry to hear you have had more trouble with it.
