(154,021 posts)that is the reality.
That includes AP and Reuters by the by.
Moreover, those shooting for National Geographic also shoot a LOT... you do not get good shots of something waiting for the moment. You need to shoot, A LOT.
Fair question, I shoot an average of 200 for a news story, just because I am not doing sports photography. How many do you think a photographer shoots at your average NBA game? (2000 is not unheard off)
Regardless, I just pointed to you an advantage of digital
I will point to you two more.
What do you think is 35 mm equivalent in digital? That be 6.2 megapixels. Why, if you have a descent, even point and shoot, with a fairly fast sensor, you too can play this game. Why photos are far less pixelated than they used to be...my Nikon, not even top of the line, no longer has pixelation issues, unless shooting at night, with high ISO during a wildfire.
There are shots I could not do with film, period.
Now film has it's advantages too... and large format is still used by top rated studio artists.
And yes, I learned to shoot Black and White and a dark room... and we do not even own a copy of Photoshop.
