I told her that wouldn't matter because I, for one, would be THRILLED to help pay for poor women's access to contraceptives. And I put it to her - "seems like a much better bargain to me - a few bucks a month in taxes going toward preventing unwanted pregnancies, OR would you rather have to pay many many more dollars a month in taxes for the care and feeding and other support for all those unwanted children who start flooding the system because their moms couldn't get access to affordable birth control or other family planning services?"
Oh. (Moment of silence followed.)
Well, uh, hmm, she kinda mutteringly admitted that she, um, hadn't thought of it that way.
Then she conceded that I had a good point. She's also edging back around from viewing me as a "baby killer" because I believe in a woman's right to have the last word over what happens to HER body. She actually admitted that she doesn't want to see Roe V Wade overturned!
