I always saw it as Trump putting Pence up so that he could step in and grandstand. Pence was there to be the lesser. Pence’s whole role is to be a bland backdrop for Trump.

Yes the task force briefings were a good idea especially almost everyone was locked down and starved for information. Aside from actually leading, they had everyone’s attention and could have finished off the election. Bad advise from Jared, general buffoonery, and Trump rushing through stage like Kanye created a disaster both in strategy and imagery.
