4. Try to keep the sense

that you are! You are just being and alive right now.

If you can pull back a little into that and relax into what you are, then you might notice that the mind and intellect can get very immersed and caught up in ideas and thoughts, which are secondary to what you are right now even though the churning tumult of ideas and information can be both alluring and addictive.

It is quite possible to just be an observer in the present. You can watch all this happening in that context knowing that things are always changing and the pendulum has been swinging to and fro for human culture since the beginning. They must and will change, so acceptance of that in both the phases you think are bad and also good can give you some peace and calm and more enjoyment.

You can feel with the body and experience the senses. Those seem rather concrete and immediate. When you get "lost in thought" it can become rather harrowing and just look at what that does to your equilibrium and the stress the thoughts are putting on the system. What good is that? It is somewhat self destructive and counterproductive if you want to be resilient and have health and energy for what you need to do.

So, pull back. Relax. Thoughts come and they go. Feelings change. Notice that and find some natural homeostasis. The body does that and keeps you alive and healthy. Does the mind have to cooperate and learn to let go, flow and be with what is happening as it is? Will all the preferences and judgments need to take such a high priority that one suffers more than necessary?
