(28,103 posts)what has his record been since his time in medical school? Are there other incidents that happened later?
Robert Byrd was forgiven for worse behavor that he "indulged" in when he was older than Northam was in these photos. but Byrd did develop a record of action that backed up his apologies. Can the same be said about Northam?
And, if a person is going to be held responsible for bad behavior in college, behavior that he appears to be truly sorry for, how many people will dare run for public office? Is it helpful to become the party that doesn't forgive mistakes or refuses to accept that people can change and become better?
It may be that he should resign, but I would prefer we not be so quick to jump on the bandwagon as was done with Franken. (And note, there have been no more accusations against Al since he resigned and those that did accuse him have faded away, strange how that worked out.)
