People need constant reminding: The House impeaches, the Senate convicts. You need both to remove the POTUS.
Will the GOP controlled Senate vote to convict Trump? Probably not. Trump has re-aligned the GOP so that the Senate and House GOP committees are part of the POTUS. They can't get infrastructure and money unless Trump says so. He's got them by the balls, either they protect him from conviction or they starve in the next election.
Plus all the Republicans who refused to be Trump sycophants have already left. They all quit the party before the 2018 election. Everybody's who's left is a Trump suck up.
So the odds that the Senate will convict Trump are near zero.
History repeats itself. We've seen this before when Bill Clinton was impeached. The Senate refused to convict Clinton. Sure it was bullshit, but it was heat the Senate had to take to protect Clinton's Presidency. The GOP here will do the same for Trump. Not because the charges are bullshit, but because their survival depends on it.
