Trump reportedly directed Homeland Security officials to get their orders by watching Fox Business..

... host Lou Dobbs “every night.”

Source: Huffington Post

Former DHS chief of staff Miles Taylor was basically the “shadow chief of staff” for the department and the Trump “would call us and […] he would say, ‘Why the hell didn’t you watch Lou Dobbs last night? You need to listen to Lou. What Lou says is what I want to do.’”

The Trump-Navarro mind meld on the FDA "You are all Deep State and need to get on Trump Time"

Senior health officials in the Trump administration were taken aback last Monday when the president's trade adviser, Peter Navarro, accused them of being part of the "Deep State" during a meeting that was supposed to be about COVID-19 and the Strategic National Stockpile.

Why it matters: Five days after Navarro's private comments toward the FDA, the president echoed Navarro's sentiments with a pair of Saturday morning tweets and tagged Stephen Hahn, the head of the Food and Drug Administration.

"The deep state, or whoever, over at the FDA is making it very difficult for drug companies to get people in order to test the vaccines and therapeutics," the president tweeted. "Obviously, they are hoping to delay the answer until after November 3rd. Must focus on speed, and saving lives!"
Trump then attacked the FDA for revoking its emergency use authorization "of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine for treating COVID-19 amid growing evidence that the drugs are 'unlikely to be effective' in treating the coronavirus."
Behind the scenes: According to two sources in the Monday meeting, Navarro had aggressively confronted FDA officials, saying, "You are all Deep State and you need to get on Trump Time." (That's the expression Navarro uses to describe the speed that he says Trump demands.)

It almost feels on purpose

MSNBC interrupts Al Sharpton and a guest discussing the most recent police shooting of an unarmed black man to show 2-3 minutes of empty podium so we don't miss moment of Fat 45 waddling up to start his near daily shitshow.

"Where there's a whip, there's a ... cure?"

Mark Meadows doubled down on Trump's earlier tweet about the FDA (Deep State) deliberately slow rolling research or just lollygagging, cracking the whip for them to get back work, but not to cut any corners on science and safety.

"Rush, rush to cover King Mango's ass but do it safely, you lazy nerds!"

It feels like Alex Witt is really dwelling on Mary Trump's recording

but more on the fact her Judge Trump didn't know she was being recorded than what it contained (which, tbh, didn't strike me as that much of a bombshell). But Witt's focus leaves an impression that making the recording was the greater 'wrong' in this case. That's just the impression it gave, she hasn't said that explicitly. I think her POV is shaped by her career as a journalist.

Has anyone read: Hatemonger by Jean Guerrero?

I admit, Stephen Miller has long been a source of morbid fascination for me. How does someone end up that screwed up? What's his thought process like and how did he get in so deep as too be one of Trump's favored minions and advisors? Is this book worth checking out?

Guerrero spends much of her book plumbing Miller’s early years for the origins of his animus against immigrants, with intriguing but inconclusive results. She makes far clearer how right-wing and nationalistic media personalities provided Miller the platform and tactics to hone his political vision — and theirs — and continued shaping his views during his time as a Senate aide and as a Trump adviser. Yes, Miller is a force over Trump, articulating and sharpening his message on immigration, but that makes his own influences all the more relevant.

Sometimes, if you look closely, you’ll notice that the puppeteer has strings tugging at him, too.

Trump denounced Biden's convention speech, saying "I'm the only thing standing between the American

Source: NBC News

At a gathering of the Council for National Policy in Arlington, Trump called the Democratic convention the “darkest and angriest and gloomiest” in the country’s history, saying “where Joe Biden sees American darkness, I see American greatness.” Trump claimed that voting by mail is “filthy,” a “disgrace,” and would lead to the “greatest catastrophe” ever while peddling fears about “violent mobs” overtaking U.S. cities. Trump also attacked Obama, saying “you can’t be a great president when much of what he’s done we’ve undone.”

Hopefully we'll be able undo what he's done. It'll take awhile.

Trump said he plans to seek a third term "because they spied on my campaign."

From: Rolling Stone

Trump’s often-repeated claim that the Obama administration illegally spied on his campaign has been refuted by Trump’s own FBI in a detailed report. Trump made the claim during a rally in Wisconsin last night. “We are going to win four more years,” he told the crowd. “And then after that, we’ll go for another four years because they spied on my campaign. We should get a redo of four years.” According to the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, however, “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice.”

He's been 'joking' about that allot (trial ballooning...) so I guess he felt now was the time (may for a distraction? to take it up a notch.
